Model Behavior & Cutz at “8 x 8″ on the 8th”
Sep 11th, 2007 by Brad
Last saturday afternoon, I finally got around to see Organism’s “Model Behavior” (1231 NW Hoyt #101, Portland OR – at the old Blue Sky gallery location). I ran into Jeff Jahn there and we chatted for a bit about a variety of things in Portland and art.
I was particularly inspired by Matthew Picton’s work at the show. Even though Jeff noted that only one of his pieces was needed to make the point at the show, I would have liked to see more. But as we discussed, we both think it is far too many overhang shows in Portland.
The show has work from Hank Willis Thomas (NY), Yoram Wolberger (Israel&CA), Matt Clark (DC Comics), Weppler & Mahovsky (Canada), Matthew Picton (OR) and Norman Zabusky (Physicist @ Rugers).
Organism is under the directorship of Jeff Jahn and is interested in bringing a variety of contemporary art to Portland. Jeff said they have some other space for future shows so expect so see more…

Terri Cutz
Saturday evening I went to see Terri Cutz (who just got representation at Margo Jacobsen’s Gallery) work that was having an opening with her critique group at Art Home Company (SE 6th & Stark, Portland OR). The show is called 8 x 8″ on the 8th.
I really like Terri’s work on the far left (with the egg), but alas I wasn’t quick enough to snatch it up in time and it had already sold.

Thanks,
Picton has a solo show at Pulliam Deffenbaugh in October so you can get your fix then. I felt it was important that everyone’s work breathe in the space.
Thanks for the tip, look forward to the fix. I think you did the right thing for your show.
Lots to see on 1st Thur, Cramer’s show at Russo, Picton at P-D, and one of mine at Mark Woolley downtown in the “Be Blue” show 🙂 Jeff, you actually saw a proof of my image “Brooklyn Bridge”, now time to see the full scale thing at Mark’s.
