A new documentary called “Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten” is now showing in the UK, I can’t wait till it crosses the pond. Joe Strummer was co-founder and lead singer of The Clash. Epic Records once proclaimed The Clash as “The Only Band That Matters”.
There is a BBC podcast about the new documentary (only the first 6 min of 21 min podcast).
- “British punk movement still exerts an extremely power influence at lots of levels of British culture…” … “Within that, Joe Strummer was one arguably three people who could justifiably claim to have been the leader of this movement…”
The influence of the band was much more than just British culture, but I’m sure it was stated this way because the interview was done for an English audience. The Clash still exerts an influence in the US as well.
