Derby Night at the Doug
Aug 5th, 2007 by Brad
Last night “Derby” played an energetic and very infectious set at the Doug Fir. Lots of great songs in this tight set. Lots of catchy lyrics… I always like it when the non-mic’ed musicians sing along. Derby is just damn-good indie pop. Some times you just need fun and they are it. They debuted quite a few new songs, and said they just finished a full-length album. I’ll definitely be checking out that release.
Probably the only flaw was not the best vocal mix, but the rest was spot on. This surprised me a bit given the typically solid mixes at the Doug.
Looks like Derby will be playing at the “FALL FIR FEST” Doug Fir Saturday September 22.

- …to set the record straight even though my grandmother sang opera in Moscow, I didn’t get those genes, so if I was in a band I’d be un-mic’ed for the benefit of all.
