New Painting by Sarah Shields
Sep 23rd, 2007 by Brad
Sarah Shields nearly sold out her show at Stumptown Coffee downtown on 3rd last fall. I really wanted one from that series so I commissioned one. Here is the work she did for me.

I’m thrilled to have this work. Her paintings have a Slavic feel to me, maybe that appeals to the half-slav in me. I also love the big bold colors and the flowers whose shapes seem sharpened by the heat of the fields. Even though I’ve talked to her in little casual conversations over the years I’ve never really asked her about the deeper meaning she has for her work. They have enough mystery for me and I can bring enough to the images that I may never ask.
Feel free to contact Sarah at the email link above if you would like to see more of her art. She will do more commissions.
This is also a reminder for those in Portland who buy art. Most artists I know will do commissions. This can be handy if, like me, you didn’t get to a show before it was sold out. Not all will, but it is always worth asking.
Most photographers do editions so even if you see a red dot by an image there may be more exactly like it. Go ahead add a few more red dots.
Where can Sarah’s art be seen?
I saw Sarah’s work at show in Stumptown last fall. I’d suggest clicking on the email link and asking Sarah about upcoming shows. I don’t know her plans.
Sarah has a new show up at the downtown stumptown on 2nd. They are amazing.
