Moving Ladd Carriage House in Portland

Everything has a tight fit in Portland. Here is the 1883 landmark Ladd Carriage House which barely fitting between a couple of newcomers.
The Ladd Carriage House started its three block journey in the morning on Columbia street.
We of course try to save our trees in Portland, so the trimming happened as needed during the slow journey.
Here is the front of the house.
It was a very close fit that required a lot of inspection and re-inspection.
…and a little trimming of steel…
“…wasn’t the house on that corner?” 🙂 Actually I’m quite glad that the public could get up close and see everything that was going on.
“Hey dude on the top floor, a little help? …could you pull it your way a bit?”
After squeezing between those buildings they had to trim the bushes a bit to get it over them.
The main reason I was watching the move was to create one of my fine art images, but I shot that one with my medium-format film camera and have yet to develop that image. Here was my perch for 6 hours for the sake of one image that I can’t show you until I get it developed.
