James Turrell’s The Light Inside and Alice Neel at Museum of Fine Arts Houston

One of the joys of going to Houston is seeing Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
I, of course, was particularly drawn to “The Light Inside,” which is a site-specific installation of neon lights, gypsum board, plaster, and glass by James Turrell (1999) it is located in the tunnel between the two main buildings of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
If in Houston, I also recommend seeing the show ” Light of the Sufis: The Mystical Arts of Islam” – fantastic show.
In addition this is the last week of “Alice Neel: Painted Truths”.
Those are amazing pieces of James Turrells. I’ve only seen a couple of his installations, one of my favorites is at Phoenix Art Museum. I really love the bright and bold lines of these hallways, well what seem to be hallways. He is such an incredible talent.
The Alice tunnel is so neat even meeting it on the computer! i have been to the museum before with my class for a field trip in 3rd grade! it still looks soooo awesome! well i have to go or should i say gtg!
