FotoFest 2010 Biennial and Participating Spaces
Oct 1st, 2008 by Brad
FotoFest 2010 will focus on contemporary work by US Photographers with its invited curators. What normally happens is they have a curated show with a theme or two that is part of the official program. In addition because there are so many galleries (non-profit, commercial, artist run), corporate spaces, retail spaces and restaurant galleries that also want to show art they also these spaces with a juried selection process.
I haven’t seen the theme yet for the Biennial show but they emphasize that the curators will be selecting work and it will not be part of the juried selection process for participating spaces.
Today, FotoFest announced the submission process for participating spaces.
Normal sort of requirements for a mail-in submission process. You’ll need to be able to submit artists’ work, CV, exhibition requirements, and space preferences. Then the FotoFest staff will have a jury process to narrow the field and present the work to the Participating spaces who will make their own decision from this culled list.
As will most submissions, they are looking for “coherent bodies of work that have a clear idea or concept behind them. The work should reflect your ability to translate an idea into visual imagery. This may be traditional chemical photography, digital photography, photo-based multi media work, film, video, or web-based work.”
